The Haudenosaunee, also known as the Iroquois Confederacy and Six Nations, is an Indigenous confederation made up of the Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, Seneca, and Tuscarora nations. The name Haudenosaunee means “People of the Longhouse,” reflecting their traditional dwelling and a political philosophy of unity.

The Confederacy is one of the world’s oldest participatory democracies, guided by the Great Law of Peace and influential in shaping political thought across North America.
